Vic: Man dies in road smash
MELBOURNE, Aug 27 AAP - A man was killed when his car struck a tree and split in two
east of Melbourne early today.
The accident occurred on the Belgrave-Gembrook Road at Emerald, in the Dandenong Ranges
east of Melbourne, about 3am.
A Victoria Police spokesman said the driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was killed
in the crash.
Emergency crews were examining the wreckage to determine if anyone else was in the
car, the spokesman said.
The death took Victoria's road toll to 242, 18 more than at the same time last year.
