Qld: Woman drowns in rafting accident
A Sydney woman has drowned after being trapped underwater during a rafting expedition
on the Tully River in far north Queensland.
Sergeant BOB CONROY of Innisfail police says the 41-year-old woman was on an organised
trip on the river when the accident happened about 11am (AEST).
He says she was somehow flipped out of the raft and became trapped under the water.
He says the other people on the raft tried to free her but she drowned before they could do so.
Sergeant CONROY says the woman's body has been recovered from the river and taken to Innisfail.
Her name has not been released.
No-one else was injured and state Workplace Health and Safety officers are investigating
the incident.
